Today’s Startup of the Day is Genvision.
Genvision measures carbon dioxide removal in nature via satellite images. Manual monitoring of tree planting projects, at the heart of traditional carbon offset programs, has historically been slow, expensive, and error-prone. By leveraging AI to analyze those images, Genvision aims to accurately quantify carbon related data and enable companies and governments to become truly carbon neutral.
Genvision was founded by Emiel Cockx and Wout Stienaers. Cockx pursued undergraduate studies in both cello performance and civil engineering and architecture, and completed a Masters of Architecture at UC Berkeley. There, he taught grad-level courses in 3D modeling and worked on research at the intersection of 3D modeling and AI—the technical center of Genvision’s work. Stienaers studied Business Economics and completed three separate masters degrees in Information Management, Business Economics, and Corporate Law. He runs operations at Genvision.
